The high riding Beach Volleyball players of Sri Lanka dominated the Beach Volleyball segment of the first ever South Asian Beach Games held at Hambantota by winning the both the Gold Medals as well as the Silver Medals. The games were conducted from 08 October to 13 October 2011.

Eight teams comprising India, Nepal, Maldives, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka competed at the men’s segment, while five teams comprising India, Nepal, Maldives and Sri Lanka competed at the women’s segment.

Men’s Championship

Gold Medal : Mahesh Perera & Wasantha Ratnapala (Sri Lanka No. One Team)
Silver Medal : Pubudu Ekanayake & Sampath Peiris (Sri Lanka No. Two Team)
Bronze Medal : P Sivabalan & S Dhamo Dharan (India 1)

Women’s Championship

Gold Medal : Geethika Gunawardena & Thakshila Gunasinghe (Sri Lanka No.Two Team)
Silver Medal : WW Sujeewa & Sagarika Gunasinghe (Sri Lanka No. One Team)
Bronze Medal : Hemamalini & Ragana (India)

With this exceptional performance Sri Lanka has further acclaimed their dominance of beach volleyball in the South Asian region.
